The Hive Confederation was once a peaceful, thriving planetary system comprised of intelligent, insectoid races. After fifty years of living in harmony, the Ginglii clan has separated from its other Hive members. One of the most powerful of the Hive clans, the Ginglii have stockpiled large amounts of weaponry and assembled a central computer, and their plans are to use both to visit death and destruction on its former allies. Using the computer to coordinate their efforts, the Ginglii have conquered several Hive planets and enslaved their inhabitants. The Hive Confederation is now facing total exticntion at the hands of the rampaging Ginglii. To counter the Ginglii threat, a small rebel force has embarked on one last mission. Their goal is to free the Ginglii slave colonies and destroy the Ginglii homeworld's central computer system. This mission, code-named "Motherbase 2000," must suceed in order to prevent the Ginglii from gaining total control of the Hive. Only one ship, the Stinger, is capable of penetrating the extensive defenses of the Ginglii central computer. Your piloting expertise combined with your ability to adapt captured Ginglii weaponry to your vessel will determine the ultimate fate of the Hive.
