Description

Eidos Interactive and developer Cinematix attempt to capitalize on the role-playing craze with Revenant, a graphically stunning game that offers just enough exciting game play to hold players' interest until its abrupt conclusion. With the phenomenal success of Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo, it comes as little surprise that the gaming industry witnessed an onslaught of look-alikes that all hope to engage gamers with a similar addiction. Locke D'Averam, the player's prerolled character, finds himself whisked out of the netherworld and resurrected under the control of an ingenious wizard. It's you, the "revenant," who must save the island of Ahkuilon from the mysterious Children of the Change cult. During the quest, Locke D'Averam remembers elements of his past life and, hopefully, gains an understanding about what happened to his soul many years ago. Revenant's graphics are nothing short of spectacular, with crisp animation and vibrant backdrops and spell effects. Game play includes both exploration and combat in a mix that leans more toward action than adventure. Further, fighting involves more than just frantic mouse clicks; combat features over 55 weapons with unique moves to perform. Multiplayer and a level editor are included to extend Revenant's life, but both are too complex and buggy to provide enjoyment. Look for a patch at Eidos Interactive's Revenant site.
